Crushed – that´s important in this case. The seeds have to be crushed and broken up to provide access to the nutrients and healthy fats. You could use bottled flax oil to amp up your omega-3 fatty acid intake, but seeds are a more affordable option and they last longer in your pantry. The combination of healthy and cheap seems like a good choice to me. And you can sprinkle flax seeds on everything, for example on avocado without toast or incorporate it into a breakfast muesli mix.
